Semaglutide, or Ozempic when sold under its brand name, is an anti-diabetic medication. Semaglutide and liraglutide, which you may know under brand names like Wegovy, Saxenda, Ozempic, or Mounjaro. It is most commonly used as a treatment for type 2 diabetes as well as a treatment for obesity and weight management.

The largest clinical trial showed that adults taking semaglutide lost an average of almost 15% of their initial body weight ā about 12% more than those who didnāt take the medication. Adolescent clinical trials showed an average weight loss of 16%. An average of 6″ waist reduction occurred, indicating a loss in fat most harmful to metabolic health.
